In this post 9/11 era, public health and safety concerns have now moved to the forefront. RVNA has an integral role in Region 6 emergency preparedness and disaster planning for the town of Ridgefield. In emergency situations such as snowstorms, power outages and threats to public health and safety, Ridgefield VNA has been designated by the health department as a resource for health support in the community. In addition, RVNA conducts disaster drills in order to prepare for the administration of mass inoculations or mass antibiotic distribution.
It is part of the mission of the Ridgefield VNA to better prepare the community in case of an emergency. The U.S. Dept of Homeland Security recommends assembling a kit of emergency supplies in preparation for an unexpected event.
The Ridgefield
VNA is launching a new program of offering emergency
preparedness kits to community members. The
kits contain some of the recommended items such as
first aid supplies, flashlights and a tarp;
and a list of additional items that need to be added
in order to make the kit complete. The kits
will be assembled by a local Girl Scout troop.
The kits are available for a $75 tax-deductible donation.
