Traveling to exciting new places can make you feel wonderfully alive. It can also expose you to serious diseases that may threaten your health. Don’t be among the 20-70% of people who experience health problems when traveling.* Before you travel, call the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association at
203-438-5555, ext. 1117 or visit us online at www.ridgefieldvna.org for the travel advice and immunizations you need to make your trip both memorable and safe.
The Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association...care you can count on, right in your own back yard.

- Get advice from a Travel Health professional. Let your body adjust once you arrive.
- Protect yourself from disease-bearing insects.
- Never go barefoot...even on the beach.
- Make sure your water is purified.
- Consume only well-cooked food.
- Fruit & veggies? Wash it, peel it, or forget it!
- Prefill your prescriptions, as they may not be available at your destination.
- Don’t swim in rivers, lakes and streams.
- Choose means of transportation carefully.
- Four to six weeks before departure, consult the travel health specialist at the Ridgefield VNA for the most up-to-date immunization recommendation and consultation.
