"My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer over six years ago. Although her treatment was thorough and aggressive, it finally metastasized to her brain. As her health deteriorated, her physician referred us to Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association for care. The help and care we received was incredible. Although our neighbors assisted with meals, our children’s care and transportation, the RVNA helped us in ways that we could not have anticipated.
Lynn Schneider PT, became our guardian angel, friend and confidant overseeing Anna’s safe movement, transfer by aides and access to the outdoors. She even organized the building of a ramp to our door. Pat Dizazzo RN worked closely with us and taught us how to administer Anna’s shots. The home health aides provided my wife with competent, conscientious care, loving friendship and support. Laura Switzer MSW advocated for Anna to remain at home addressing issues from daily quality of life to dignity at end of life.
The exceptional RVNA staff knows the community and the resources available. Receiving those resources with compassionate care enabled Anna to remain at home, surrounded by our children, family and friends who loved her till she passed away in August 2006. Although recent transplants to Ridgefield, this community has become our family. The Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association is also our family, providing us with exceptional care, friendship and loving support. I am grateful for everything that the RVNA has done for us."
