The Ridgefield VNA provides a variety of services to the community throughout the year. Many of our programs rely on the generosity of our volunteers.
The following is a list of volunteer job opportunities with a brief description of each. Some require special skills or training while most require only a willing heart. Please contact Amy Bondeson-Boyce, Coordinator of Community Programs, at 438-5555 extension 1119 if any of these positions are of interest to you.
Blood
Pressure Screening
RN volunteers are used to take and record blood pressures at our free monthly blood pressure clinics. RN volunteers are also needed at events throughout the year to do community screenings (often on weekends). Lay volunteers are also used for coordinating the screenings. RN’s must possess a current RN license.

Community Health Fair
Volunteer physicians, nurses, other health professionals, and lay volunteers are all needed for the VNA’s biggest community event of the year. The Community Health Fair is held in early spring. In addition to helping the day of the event, volunteers are always needed beforehand to help with preparations and setting up. Health professionals provide free screenings and consultations in one of our 50 stations. Lay volunteers are used in station registration, traffic control, refreshments, set-up, and clean-up.

Flu/Pneumonia Clinics
Numerous flu and pneumonia clinics are held in the fall/early winter at the RVNA offices and at other community locations/businesses. Volunteer RN’s are used to administer the vaccine and lay volunteers help with registration. An orientation is held for both RN’s and lay volunteers before flu season. RN’s must possess a current RN license.

Friendly Driver Program
Volunteer drivers are used to drive RVNA patients, to medical appointments, who have no means of transportation. Volunteers must have a reliable car, a current driver’s license, vehicle registration, and automobile insurance. Drivers must submit to a DMV and police background check. Assistance with gas funds is available.

Well Child Clinic
Volunteer physicians and APRN’s are used to perform well child, school, camp, and sports physicals on children ages birth through 18 years at a reduced fee. Volunteer pediatric RN’s are used to assist the physician/APRN and give needed pediatric immunizations. A lay volunteer is used as a receptionist. All well child volunteers must submit to a police background check. Physicians, APRNs, and RNs must hold a current license.

Office Volunteers
RVNA uses volunteers to help with typing, filing, copying and other clerical jobs as well as special projects. Volunteers are needed who can commit to a regular schedule of a few hours each week and others who are available to help with special projects as they arise.
